Welcome to the rain tree hotel. A premier among Yala hotels. THE RAIN TREE HOTEL is situated at Tissamaharama, in close proximity to the Yala wildlife sanctuary. The hotel consists of 20 Superior Deluxe Rooms with modern amenities. The elegant restaurant and bar offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscaped garden.

The pool secluded amongst the landscaped garden is a vantage point to soak in spectacular views of the sunset. Scenically located by the ancient “Tissa Wewa” providing views of the lake. We have our own ORGANIC farm and a view point at the top of the hotel with a 360° degree uninterrupted view of all the lakes, mountains and rice fields. From the view point the guests can enjoy a wonderful sun rise and sun set.

In the evening there are thousands of birds of various species and fruit bats. Stands on the shores of the Tissa Lake, The Rain Tree Hotel is placed in a unique location with more than 50 species of both endemic & migrant birds.

Flocking together over magnificent cluster of massive rain trees at the Lake, right in front of the hotel. The name of the hotel is influenced by these trees. The guests can enjoy a wonderful 360-degree panoramic view over the lake, old temples and mountain ranges nearby, from a view point at the top of the hotel, which is 60 feet above ground. At sunset the guests can enjoy a drink, (Sundowner) when thousands of flying foxes (fruits bats) are leaving the rain trees and fly past the hotel.

The hotel arrange safari trips to 3 national parks: Yala (Leopard, Bear, Elephant and Deer etc), Bundala (Birds), and Udawalawa (Elephants). The parks are 30 to 45 minutes away from the hotel (Udawalawe 75 minutes). At Kirinda sea beach you can go for a swim in the Indian Ocean.

Our hotel is an eco-friendly hotel. We use clean energy through solar power and has an organic farm where we grow our rice, vegetables and fruits. Asian culture, history, archaeology and religion are encountered at the temples in Tissa, Kirinda and the holy town Kataragama, which Buddhist, Hindus and Catholics visit from all over the world.

Most significantly the hotel is just 30 minutes from the Yala National Park, the most popular and the second largest National Park in the country, famed for having one of the highest leopard density in the world, making it the ideal location from where to launch your explorations.
